Old Spice!!!!!

Old Spice was founded in 1934 by William Lightfoot Schulte. Its products have gradually increased on the sales market, but it didn't necessarily have the sales that it hoped to have, until its recent commercial which stars former football flayer Isaiah Mustafa. Now people are able to recognize Old Spice as a brand. The reasons behind Old Spice choosing this way of their commercial was because they had to figure out a way to make men want to buy their products. So what better way than to get a super HOT guy with a dreamy voice to make women fall in love with and hope that their men could look as good as Isaiah.

Ever since this commercial debuted in the 2009 Super Bowl, the campaign EXPLODED!!! The name of the commercial was "The Man Your Man Could Look Like," and it attracted 19 million views. This commercial received, in fact, more views than Obama's Victory Speech.

TWITTER! YOUTUBE! and OLD SPICE!
With the popularity of Isaiah Mustafa and Old Spice, their Twitter pages gaiend many followers, who wanted to get to know the "Old Spice Guy." His followers would tweet him and he and his team came up with one of the greatest ways to use social media. He began making Personalized Videos! If anyone would tweet about him, he would respond with a video. A few examples include Perez Hilton and Alyssa Milano.

FUTURE?!
This campaign has definitely been an example for other business trying to figure out a way to use social media. Here are 8 Things that were Learned by Old Spice. So, do I believe that Old Spice's campaign has been a success?? DEFINITELY!!! And this is only the beginning, so I'm sure it'll have more ideas flourishing pretty soon!

Screencasting Example!

This video is about Final Cut Pro for Beginners. As a Mass Comm major, this is something very useful to know. This video starts off with the guy explaining what each window in the program is and what is within those windows. He shows how to import videos by going to file> import or you can just press Ctrl+I. He also explains how you can change the different windows whether by adding or maximizing them by going to Window in the upper line. Finally he shows how to export your video.

Screencasting is sooooo much easier when trying describe something on the computer especially when the majority of the world's population is compuer savvy! People prefer to see something and be shown how its done phsically as opposed to reading it and figuring it out on their own. Also watching a screencast can take up less time. Reading and trying to do the activity takes a lot longer than being shown and actually doing the activity yourself!

Facebook Perspectives

 My Social Networking Journey

I used to use Myspace when I was a sophomore in high school. My page was pretty simple because it required to much work (lol) but I still enjoyed using it because it was a way to connect with others. I found out about Facebook through my older siblings because both of them had one, so I wanted to get one too. My sister refused to let me join because at the time it was only for "college students." I found out through one of my friends that the only way you could be on Facebook as a high school student was through an invite. The same friend then invited me and I soon stopped going to Myspace because I felt more mature being on Facebook.
Now that Facebook has expanded to others outside of college, majority of everyone I know has a Facebook page. I refuse to let my parents get on Facebook because I don't agree with older people trying to become a part of our social means.

I Like!
One Facebook page that I enjoy viewing and visit regularly is my boyfriend's page. Sometimes he'll write very inspiring statuses that not only encourages me, but others as well. He has a Tumblr, which is connected to his Facebook page so whatever blog he posts from Tumblr is seen on Facebook as well. With this being Black History Month, he likes to put posts about different black leaders. Well here's his page you can check it out Kelly Dawsey!

YouTube Sensation!

I love this video!!!!! I've watched this over 50+ times and that's a lot because I rarely watch a video more than once, but every time I watch this video, it still seems to be as funny as the first time that I watched it. Antoine Dodson was like an overnight sesnsation and by far one of the best videos in 2010. He has so many people all over the country saying "Hida ya kids, Hide ya wife" and it will continue to be a saying in America's history for a looooooong time to come!

I love blogs, blogs, blogs, blogs. . . Blogs I do adore!

I love reading different kinds blogs because I interested in everything that goes on in the world and people's minds. But, I'd have to say my most favorite blog is Meditakeout. I like this website because it entertains me! The site is about the biggest gossip within the black community. Whether it's celebrities or just random people walking down the street, Mediatakeout is the first too report on anything going on. Not only does Mediatakeout keep you posted on the latest gossip, they also tell you about news around the world. . . but, i generally skip that section.

A Little Somethin' Somethin' about Moi!

Hey guys! Welcome to my blog!!!!! My name is Janelle Woolford, but a lot of people call me Dot. I am currently a senior at the University of West Georgia, with a major in Mass Communications and a minor in Film Studies. I plan to be very SUCCESSFUL! in any and everything I do! Even though I don't have a specific blueprint of my life, I hope to establish a career in television production and possibly produce my own television show. Pretty much anything in TV/Radio I'd like to pursue. This is my first blog and I'm writing this for a class. I've never written a blog before, but it should be interesting since I can be a very random person. Hopefully I'll continue to write even after this semester is over, depending on how much I enjoy blogging. I believe that I am a fun person to be around since I laugh all the time and since laughter is the best medicine why not do it! I'm VERY silly, but everybody seems to like that about me.

Hmmm.... I enjoy reading and long walks on the beach lol j/k, but seriously I usually spend most of  my free time hanging out with my boyfriend, my roommates, or my LS's of the wonderful sorority of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. :) (shoutout to Jordanna who is also in the class that I'm writing my blog for).

In terms of social media, I mainly use Facebook and Twitter out of all the other social medias out there, but I find myself tweeting more, due to the fact that family is on Facebook and it looks stupid saying everything on your mind on Facebook back to back.Back in the day however, I used to use Myspace and before that I used Tagged. Both of those social medias used to be sooooo big back then but they weren't able to last very long. SO on that note follow me @_dippindot on Twitter!
